Seal Of Eternity (Arcanist)

Seal Of Eternity (Arcanist)

The Arcanist is a secret job in Octopath Traveler 2 gameplay, fitting into one of the game’s most flexible support/DPS hybrid positions. With talents that deal AOE while offering free recovery, or Seals that can either remove debuffs or extend self-targeted spells to all allies, the Arcanist can become a valuable asset in launching some of the game’s more potent combinations. However, the Arcanist’s Divine Skill, Seal of Eternity, is even more potent.

The Arcanist can use this Skill to make a single buff last until the end of the match. At first sight, this appears to be effective, however utilizing it on a multi-buffed character would only improve a random buff. To make this more efficient, players should use Seal of Eternity on a character with only one effective buff.

BP Boost (Conjurer)

BP Boost (Conjurer)

Octopath Traveler 2 features its fair number of secret jobs, with Conjurer being one of them. It’s a love letter to some of the industry’s best JRPGs. The Conjurer, considered a pure support class, primarily improves team performance through buffs and heals, with the class possessing some of the finest damage boosters in the game. Their Divine Skill, BP Boost, is crucial to their arsenal and can swing the tide of battle when employed correctly.

For three (3) turns, the Conjurer grants one ally an extra 2 BP whenever they begin their turn. When applied correctly, this extra BP can turn an ally’s already potent skill into a much-needed finisher capable of dispatching even the most difficult bosses.

Aelfric’s Blessing (Cleric)

Aelfric’s Blessing (Cleric)

One of the most frustrating aspects of a turn-based RPG like Octopath Traveler 2 is the fact that the player team’s resident DPS expert can only act once per round. At the absolute least, spells can speed up their place in the initiative sequence or even increase the number of things to accomplish per round, although this isn’t always enough to have a substantial impact on combat. Surprisingly, a Cleric can overcome this disadvantage using Aelfric’s Blessing, their Divine Skill.

This skill allows the Octopath Traveler 2 Cleric to grant an ally the ability to act again at the conclusion of their turn and take a single action when activated. What makes this buff noteworthy is that it is applied for three (3) consecutive turns, implying that an ally gets two (2) turns for three (3) rounds, which can considerably increase the power output of a resident DPS.

Dohter’s Charity (Apothecary)

Dohter’s Charity (Apothecary)

Given Octopath Traveler 2’s fantasy turn-based RPG setup, it’s no surprise that a lot of support opportunities for players come in the form of potions and other consumables that can increase their survivability in combat. These consumables, however, normally only effect the character who consumes them, and may even cost them their entire turn. This makes the healing process a tactical option for players, requiring them to select when to heal themselves and get bonuses via potions. Fortunately, Dohter’s Charity of the Apothecary turns this setback into a blessing.

The Apothecary of Octopath Traveler 2 can use this Divine Skill to have an ally’s items effect the entire team rather than just themselves. This also lasts three (3) complete revolutions. An ally in severe need of healing can give the gift of life to everyone else, while an impending DPS in need of a boost can have another ally “grant” it to them via an item so the heavy-hitter doesn’t have to waste their turn simply to activate it.

Sealticge’s Seduction (Dancer)

Sealticge’s Seduction (Dancer)

The way characters are spread out might effect the type of adversaries they can attack depending on the distance in Octopath Traveler 2’s turn-based battle system. As a result, even the most powerful Warriors can’t slash their way through an enemy outside of melee range. This setback, thankfully, is readily overcome with the Dancer’s Divine Skill in Octopath Traveler 2, Sealticge’s Seduction.

The Dancer can help one ally increase the range of their skills for three (3) turns with this skill, allowing them to dish out strong methods to adversaries who are ordinarily only targeted at range. This skill has no effect on Divine Skills or spells that influence the user. The support unit Dancer can use this Divine Skill to convert a close-ranged juggernaut into a behemoth capable of wreaking havoc on the battlefield.

Aeber’s Reckoning (Thief)

Aeber’s Reckoning (Thief)

In most RPG games, the thief or rogue archetype is one of the principal damage dealers, with their speed allowing them to have their turns first or even increasing their accuracy. This is the function of the Thief in Octopath Traveler 2 gameplay, having the ability to steal things from adversaries and dramatically improve their output with their Surprise Attack.

The Thief’s Divine Skill, Aeber’s Reckoning, is where they truly shine. The Thief uses this talent to unleash a strong attack on all opponents, dealing damage according to their current Speed. With the Thief already incentivized to have one of the highest Speed stats in the game, Aeber’s Reckoning has the potential to become one of the team’s most destructive AOE strikes. Because the damage of this ability scales with the Thief’s Speed stat, players can simply overdrive the Thief’s Speed for the best results.

Alephan’s Wisdom (Scholar)

Alephan’s Wisdom (Scholar)

The Scholar is easily one of the most powerful spellcasters players can access, serving as the equivalent of a Wizard archetype in Octopath Traveler 2 mechanics. Their immediate ability to cast incredibly devastating AOE spells can swiftly transform them into mob clearers, yet their nature as glass cannons may make monsters difficult to deal with. However, with their Divine Skill, Alephan’s Wisdom, the Scholar may be able to transform the team’s other DPS units into formidable foes.

The Scholar can use this Divine Skill to increase the intensity of an ally’s spells by up to three times their normal performance. When combined with the correct unit, such as a Warrior, Hunter, or even an Armsmaster, the Scholar may be able to enable the player team easily defeat even the most difficult bosses. This may even become a useful tool to improve the Scholar’s own performance, providing a DPS boost that can make their most powerful spells become considerably deadlier.

Draefendi’s Bow (Hunter)

Draefendi’s Bow (Hunter)

In turn-based games like Slope Game, players frequently rely on classes that can destroy as many adversaries as possible with multi-target attacks. This is also why spellcasters and their AOE attacks are popular among players, with the Hunter serving as a physical damage challenger among ranged classes.

Players who want to deal more damage with the Hunter class in Octopath Traveler 2 should consider Draefendi’s Bow, the class’s Divine Skill. The Hunter then launches a bow assault that hits all foes three (3) times. This is certainly one of the game’s most potent AOE attacks, especially with its triple-damage component, which can easily take care of many of the game’s toughest mobs.

All-Purpose Tool (Inventor)

All-Purpose Tool (Inventor)

The Inventor class in Octopath Traveler 2 gameplay is not just one of the game’s new additions, but it’s also one of the most unusual archetypes to ever grace the JRPG scene. In contrast to most classes, who require only a basic resource (typically mana or MP) to launch their attacks, the Inventor takes its name literally: it requires materials to produce its talents. Unlike most classes, which have a linear system of obtaining abilities every so many levels, the Inventor can obtain any of its skills in any sequence as long as they know where they are.

Furthermore, the Inventor requires specific materials in order to “craft” their Inventions (skills) in a match and use them in another turn. With a complete kit, this makes the Inventor one of the most adaptable classes, with time being their only limitation. Thankfully, their Divine Skill, All-Purpose Tool, solves this problem because it can immediately begin crafting all of their Inventions. This saves the Inventor a significant amount of time when casting their talents, allowing them to access their most potent inventions faster and more efficiently.

Sixfold Strike (Armsmaster)

Sixfold Strike (Armsmaster)

Players looking for a unique class in an RPG like Octopath Traveler 2 should consider the Armsmaster, which is the equivalent of a fighter with preferred mastery of various weapons. While it’s a more specialized version of the Warrior class, players may want to consider including an Armsmaster in their team because of their Divine Skill, Sixfold Strike.

With this ability, the Armsmaster launches six (6) attacks with its various weapons, each armament dedicated to a specific foe. While this may appear to be disadvantageous in larger setups where a target among a mob may not be attacked, assigning this move to hit a single target such as a boss or a smaller number of enemies may make this skill more efficient.

Brand’s Blade (Warrior)

Brand’s Blade (Warrior)

In a JRPG like Octopath Traveler 2, the Warrior serves as the game’s iconic fighting unit, with a kit mostly dedicated on dishing out damage in close range as efficiently as possible. As a result, the unit should have quite effective protection in addition to its melee prowess.

Surprisingly, Brand’s Blade is another perfect large-scale assault for the Warrior who wants to finish battles quickly. The Warrior uses this move to unleash a tremendous sword blow on a single target. When performed correctly, a well-built Warrior with this move can easily one-shot bosses or do large enough damage to prepare the team’s other high-DPS players to end the match.

Octopath Traveler 2 is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
