12 Day Leh Ladakh Itinerary

Day 1: Manali to Delhi

Day 2: Jispa – Manali

This morning, we will travel 140 km from Manali to Jispa. You will be amazed at the Himalayan splendor by the time you reach Rohtang Pass (3978m). After completing the first pass, we will continue riding along the Chandra river to Jispa in the afternoon (3,200m). We will have a campfire and stay the night here. It is a good idea to stay in Jispa as your body adjusts to the gradual climb.

Day 4 Jispa – Sarchu 

Baralacha La is a high mountain pass in Zanskar Range that is usually always covered in snow. We’ll reach Sarchu (4300m) in the early hours of the evening. Sarchu is a huge plateau with a stunning, martian-like environment.

Day 5: Leh – Sarchu

Today will be a landmark day for us all as we cross three passes including the second highest in the world. As soon as the sun rises, we get into the car. Gata loops 21 hairpin curves and continues its ascent towards the Nakila Passes and Lachungla Passes. In the afternoon, we will stop at Pang for lunch and refreshments. Before ascending Tanglang La Pass (5328m), we will see 50 km of flatlands. You can expect to capture some stunning photos as the surrounding landscapes look like a football field God created for yetis.

Day 6: Local Sightseeing at Leh

We will visit the Shanti Stupa as well as the monasteries nearby. It is hard to describe the beauty and architecture of Shanti Stup. The entire Leh Ladakh landscape can be seen from Shanti Stupa’s elevation. It is possible to take a walk through Leh’s busy markets at night.

Day 7: Leh To Nubra

Today’s first task is to get to the Khardungla Pass (5 359m), 40 km from Leh. It is the highest motorable pass anywhere in the world. We’ll then enter the Nubra valley. We will cross Changla Pass, which is the highest pass in the entire world at 5300m. Third-highest motorable pass. Changla Pass is difficult to cross due to its steepest slopes and large water torrents.

Jispa to Leh – 10th Day

We’ll be heading for the Leh-Manali highway in the early morning. Today’s journey will take us 8-10 hours. It is the longest yet. After having lunch in Pang, we will travel to Manali. We can have a campfire and listen to music when we reach Jispa at night.

Day 11 Jispa – Manali – Delhi (overnight Volvo)

It’s time to cycle back to where you started today after daybreak. Along the route, we’ll stop at Palam Dhara waterfall and Sissu Lake. After that, we will have lunch at Koksar. Manali will be reached in the late afternoon.
