Tulsi plants have medicinal properties in many ways, and this plant can be seen in almost all houses. People of Hindu society also worship Tulsi. The Tulsi plant is three to four feet tall as a bush. Whose leaves are used to bring fragrance to things. Since ancient times, Tulsi plants have been used in Unani and Ayurvedic medicine. Tulsi is a plant whose all parts are used in some form.

There is a high demand for Tulsi in companies making cosmetics products and medicines, so farmers can earn good profit in less time by cultivating brother Tulsi. Tulsi plants have strong immunity to fight diseases. One can get rid of cold, fever, cough, respiratory infections and dental conditions by consuming it.

Soil, Climate and Temperature 

Tulsi cultivation requires sandy loam soil, and its plants can increase even in the land with proper drainage. Also, the P.H. of the land for its crop. Tulsi is cultivated in more quantity in a tropical climate. Moreover, its plants grow well in the rainy season, and the frost falling in winter damages its yield. Its plants do not require any particular temperature to increase, and it overgrows at average temperatures. In addition, Eicher 380 tractor is best for operating tractor attachments easily. 

Field Preparation & Fertiliser

The complete grown plant of Tulsi gives a yield of three years. First of all, deep ploughing of the area should be done. After ploughing, leave the field open for some time. After this, put cow dung manure in the field and push it with a rotavator. Due to this, cow dung will be mixed well in the area’s soil. After the field’s soil becomes friable, make the field level by patting it.

You can also use compost manure instead of cow dung. Apart from this, if you want to use chemical fertilizers, you will need a bag of NPK. The amount has to be given in the field per hectare. After this, at the time of germination of plants, the amount of 20 K.G. nitrogen has to be given per hectare.

Transplanting Method 

Tulsi plants are planted in the form of seedlings. For this, plants should be purchased from a government-registered nursery. Plants purchased from a nursery should be healthy. Planting of its plants can be done in both flat and ridge places. Before planting on the bund, the bund is prepared to keep a distance of one foot in the field. After this, these plants are produced through the machine at a distance of one and a half feet.

If you want to plant plants on flat land, you have to prepare rows in the field. Moreover, the month of April is considered the most suitable for transplanting Tulsi plants.

Irrigation 

Tulsi plants are planted on dry land, so the first irrigation is done immediately after transplanting the plants. Irrigation should be done within 4 to 5 days to maintain the moisture in the Tulsi field. Tulsi plants require 10 to 12 irrigations in a year. Its plants are irrigated at an interval of 15 to 20 days during the rainy season. In addition, Eicher 485 tractor is best because it has many beneficial features which convey a thriving farming. 

Weed Control 

Tulsi is cultivated in medicinal form, so the chemical method should not be used for weed control in its crop. Instead, weeding – hoeing method is used for weed control. The first hoeing of its plants is done one and a half months after transplanting. The second and third hoeing of plants should be done one month after the first weeding.

Harvesting Process 

The Tulsi plant is harvested about three months after transplanting. When its plants are fully flowering, and the lower leaves appear dry, they are harvested. Oil is obtained from its harvested plants. For gathering the vegetative parts of the plants, harvesting is done from a height of 20 to 25 cm from the ground. A yield of 20 to 25 tonnes is obtained from one hectare of basil field. Out of which 80 to 100 KG oil is obtained. The market price of its oil is Rs 450 to 500 per kg. Due to this, farmer brothers can easily earn 40 to 50 thousand from their one-time crop.
