Ganondorf, also known as Ganon, is one of Nintendo’s most famous bad guys, and his story in The Legend of Zelda is long and interesting.
Most gamers know him as Ganon, but his real name is Ganondorf, and he is one of Nintendo’s most famous and dangerous bad guys. He’s not the bad guy in every Legend of Zelda game, but he’s a big part of Hyrule’s past and lore, and even when he doesn’t make a personal appearance, he’s still part of the story or plot.
Ganon has been around as long as Link and Zelda, and as the series has gone on, we’ve learned more about his past and who he is. Even though Link’s worst enemy, Ganondorf of the Gerudo, is a well-known character in Legend of Zelda games and other media, not much is known about him.
A Link To His Past
Players didn’t learn anything about Ganon’s early life until A Link to His Past came out for the Super Nintendo. In past games, he was just a bad force that wanted to take over the world. When he did face the player on-screen, he looked like a giant pig with angry yellow eyes, but the story of the first isometric game in this series showed that he had once been human or at least human-like.
Ganon was the leader of a group of thieves. He took the form of a human and had powerful magical abilities. Ganon was also a skilled fighter. He was known for bringing his group to the Sacred Realm in search of the Triforce, the biggest treasure ever. When he killed his followers to stop them from getting the power he now claimed as his own, he sealed his fate as a symbol of evil.
The Value Of Topaz
Hyrule Historia, which is a very important book, says that Ganon’s favorite gem is topaz. Which is an interesting piece of LoZ history. When he is in human form in Ocarina of Time, gamers who paid attention might have noticed that his armor is covered with useful and beautiful gems.
This would explain why it’s the main currency in the game and can be found all over Hyrule, hidden in different places, and given as a reward for finishing quests. Players who remember exploring the huge forest in the first game can remember all the “thieves’ caches” that were hidden under rocks or trees and might have belonged to Ganon or his group of thieves.
Din And The Triforce Of Power
Din was one of the three gods who made Hyrule. Her sisters, Nayru and Farore, were the other two. Each of them was in charge of a different part of the Golden Power, which is also called the Triforce. Din was the goddess of the Triforce of Power. Nayru had the Triforce of Wisdom and Farore had the Triforce of Courage. But anyone who wanted to run Hyrule had to have all three.
Ganon tried to pick up the Triforce, but it broke into three pieces. Lleaving him with only Din’s Triforce of Power. He didn’t get the throne of Hyrule because of it, but it gave him a lot of power. This explains Ganon’s long-term plan and why he was after the Triforce of Wisdom in the first game. When he already had the Triforce of Power.
Journey To The West
Ganon was first shown to the players as a huge pig-monster thing. This might have just been a strong and scary enemy, but the design was thought out. In the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West. There is a character called Zhu Bajie who is half-man and half-pig. During the making of the game, the artists and programmers called him Hakkai. Which is the Japanese name for the character.
Arthur Waley translated Journey to the West into English in 1946, and it has been available in English ever since. His version calls the story “Monkey,” which is the name of one of the main characters. Almost every cartoon, video game, or TV show that features this character is linked to this novel in some way.
Thief/Mage/Fighter Multiclass
There are some RPG aspects in The Legend of Zelda, but players don’t pick a class or build their stats or skills. Still, most characters seem to have traits that fit into certain RPG classes. Like fighter, magic user, or sneak, but with little overlap. Link can do magic, but he usually does it with the help of special things instead of his own magic skills. Zelda uses magic and pretends to be a thief, but she doesn’t fight with her hands.
Ganon is the only person in the Land of Zelda world who can do all of these things. He was born into the Gerudo Tribe, which is made up of thieves and people who try to stay alive. There, he learned how to fight and sneak, but Koume and Kotake. Who are witches, raised him and taught him magic.
The Highlander Connection
The first LoZ game to be made in 3D was Ocarina of Time, and Eggy Car gamers were pleased with how it turned out. Part of the reason the game was so popular was that the figures were based on real people. This gave them a more realistic look.
People who like movies and video games might already know this fun fact. But most people are surprised to learn that Ganon’s face is based on that of actor Christopher Lambert. Lambert is the famous actor who played classic characters like Connor MacCloud in “The Highlander” and Rayden in the 1996 live-action version of “Mortal Combat.”
The Persistent Antagonist
Ganon might be one of the most stubborn and determined bad guys in the history of video games. And it seems like that might be his nature. Skyward Sword, one of the newest games in the Legend of Zelda series, has Demise as the bad guy. He swears that no matter how many times Link kills him, he will always come back.
It is possible that he means what he says. The Hyrule Historia says that Ganondorf and Demise have something in common, which is shown by their red hair. It would also explain why Ganon keeps coming back to try to kill the Chosen Hero and Princess Zelda.
